About
Ioana Luca teaches courses in life writing, American studies and American literature. Her publications include articles in Social Text, Rethinking History, Prose Studies, Biography: An Interdisciplinary Quarterly, chapters in edited volumes, as well as several translations in and from Romanian.
She is completing a book on post-1945 exiles’ autobiographies in American literature, which also discusses the implications of the autobiographical narrative for other types of discourse. Her current research focuses on academic autobiography, post-1989 Eastern European life writing, as well as American Studies in global contexts.
Between 1997-2008 she held several administrative positions in the American Studies program at the University of Bucharest, during 2000-2008 she served as a treasurer and listserv moderator for the Romanian Association for American Studies.
